Vitamin D supplementation up to 2000 IU has been shown to significantly reduce mortality rates, thus adding vitamin D to the lineup of molecules now considered to be true longevity factors. While the 1200 IU dose is three times more than the Recommended Daily Allowance, it is well within the Safe Upper Limit established by the National Academy of Sciences (2000 IU) and corresponds with a supplemental dosage recently found to be beneficial in a human clinical trial.
